AWARD-WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER IS LAS-VEGAS BOUND

A highly-successful York wedding photographer has scooped two prestigious awards at the 2009 Master Photographer Association’s Annual National Awards, rounding off a year which has also seen him accumulate a string of other honours.

Allerton Castle - A Winning Picture

At a glittering ceremony held at the Newcastle Hilton, Steve Ramsden of Sutton-on-the-Forest won not only the MPA Licentiate Print competition, but also the Mario Acerboni ‘3 from 1’ award, which judges the best set of three photographs from one wedding taken before, during and after the ceremony. His prize includes a fantastic expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas to attend the International Convention of Wedding and Portrait Photographers. Steve also secured an Award of Excellence as a runner-up in the UK Wedding Photographer of the Year category.

These awards are just the latest in a long line of accolades for Steve, who in 2009 has also been awarded MPA Yorkshire Region Classic Wedding Photographer of the Year and Yorkshire Region Best Wedding Album. In addition, Steve has also won four awards from the prestigious British Institute of Professional Photography, including a highly-coveted Bronze National Award of Excellence; for this he competed with the cream of British photographic talent, clinching his prize with a striking image in the Traditional Weddings category. Steve has also picked up three other BIPP honours this year: Yorkshire Region Classic, Avant-Garde and Overall Wedding Photographer of the Year.

This collection of accolades makes Steve the most highly-awarded wedding photographer in Yorkshire in 2009. BIPP President Graham Rutherford enthused “The standards we set in our awards are extremely high and Steve is an outstanding example of the best in British photography”.

Steve says “I am absolutely thrilled to have my photography recognised in this way. It makes all the hard work worthwhile and I can’t wait to fly out to Las Vegas to meet and be inspired by great photographers from all over the world.

Another Winning Wedding Photograph - this time at Wood Hall

I was appalled recently to read about Yorkshire newlyweds Marc and Sylvia Day, who were so disappointed with their substandard wedding photography that they had to sue the photographer involved. It just goes to show the importance of using a photographer who belongs to a recognised professional body such as the MPA, which sets very high standards for its members. When your wedding is over the photos are all you have left as a memento, so it’s vital to choose someone whose credentials you can trust.

I always work closely with all my couples to achieve the best possible results, in a style that they feel comfortable with. After all, it’s partly due to them that I win all these awards, so I must thank them too!”.
